Thursday 8/23 -  Sonny & Perley

The exciting duo of Sonny Daye and Perley Rousseau achieves a rare musical symbiosis. The husband and wife team have spent the last several years developing and perfecting their unique blend of Jazz, Brazilian and International Cabaret which has become their musical signature. They engagingly perform the timeless standards of the Great American Songbook su! ch as Gershwin, Berlin and Porter as well as the irresistible Brazilian melodies of Antonio Carlos Jobim.  They keep a busy schedule touring with their trio, quartet or quintet performing for concerts, festivals and cabaret shows. Their three CD releases "Love Dance" 1996, "East of the Sun" 1999, and "Let It Happen" 2004 have generated international air play and received critical acclaim. It is in live performance, however, where Sonny and Perley truly shine. Throughout New York, New England and in Europe, the duo has captivated audiences with their warmth, musical honesty and broad repertoire often sprinkled with spontaneous, charming and humorous banter that only a 20 year marriage can enliven!  http://www.sonnyandperley.com

Friday 8/24 -  Patti Melita & Nat Phipps

Patti Melita has been heard singing at festivals and swing dances throughout upstate New York and New England for the past twenty years.  She was a long-time co-director of the celebrated Dance Flurry Festival, held each year in Saratoga Springs, and was co-coordinator of the monthly swing dance held in Albany for sixteen years, promoting live music throughout the Tri-City area.  She was the Treasurer of Collar City Live!, a presenting organization in Troy  for two decades, is Treasurer of Swingtime Jazz Society, is a board member of A Place For Jazz,  is the Secretary/Treasurer of the Albany Musicians= Association, Local 14 AFM, and the President of  the New York State Conference of Musicians (NYSCOM) under the AFM.

As a swing dance aficionado Patti's expertise on "music that motivates people to dance" enabled her to assemble a variety of material on her CD that defies the listener not to dance or at the very least begin the toe-tapping exercise. Together with producer Peter Ecklund, Patti recorded "Swing It!", a collection of vintage tunes arranged for the most discriminating dancers and listeners.Patti sings jazz standards with a freshness and relevance that will make you hear these old songs with a new ear.   She will be accompanied by Nat Phipps, well-known pianist in the local and national jazz scene.

Nat is originally from Newark, N.J. where he led a popular local big band that over a period of time included: Wayne Shorter, Grashon Moncur III, Chris White, Bobby Thomas, Reggie Workman, Tom MacIntosh and several outstanding local players as sideman. In addition, he has accompanied Al Hibler, Betty Bebop Carter, Moms Mabley, and spent an extended period of time with Little Jimmy Scott, as well as scores of locally talented singers.  He also recorded on the Cool and Savoy record labels. He also has a more recent recording with the Nat Phipps Trio, including Pete Toigo on bass and Pete Sweeney on drums.
